The Odessa Drillers are proud to officially welcome Brandon Henderson as the Head Coach of the organization — a leader whose experience, passion, and proven success bring an exciting new era of Drillers football to West Texas.
Coach Henderson brings an elite athletic and coaching background to Odessa. A standout athlete at Hickman Mills High School, he led the state of Missouri in interceptions for three consecutive seasons while also earning All-American recognition in track and field and competing as part of the USA World Junior Olympic Team. His collegiate football career continued through Coffeyville Community College, Western Michigan University, and Northern Iowa, before earning opportunities with NFL practice squads including the San Diego Chargers and Chicago Bears.
He then built a successful decade-long professional arena football career, competing with organizations such as the Bloomington Extreme, Billings Outlaws, San Antonio Talons, Las Vegas Outlaws, and LA Kiss, gaining firsthand knowledge of what it takes to win at the professional indoor level.
As a coach, Henderson has established himself as one of the game’s strongest defensive minds. He has served as a defensive coordinator at multiple high schools, including Staley High School, and led programs with league-leading defenses while specializing in special teams excellence. His professional coaching experience includes roles as Head Coach of the Iowa Rampage and Iowa Power, as well as Assistant Head Coach of the Wichita Regulators.
Beyond the field, Coach Henderson is deeply committed to community impact and player development. He serves as Commissioner and CEO of the Samuel L. Felton Jr. Community Development Program and COO of the I Can Succeed Foundation, helping mentor youth and support families across multiple states. His coaching philosophy centers on discipline, accountability, education, and building strong men both on and off the field.
With extensive certifications in strength and conditioning, speed and agility training, nutrition, and a USATF Level 1 certification, Coach Henderson brings a complete, modern approach to player development and team culture.
The Odessa Drillers are excited to begin this new chapter under Coach Henderson’s leadership as we continue building a championship culture for Odessa and the entire Permian Basin.
